Taste the Rainbow

I once found a recipe for making a rainbow cake, and decided to finally try my hand at it for Addie's birthday. However, since the cake involved a double batch, and our family couldn't possibly need that much cake, I decided to make mini rainbow cupcakes. I also skipped making the special recipe cake, and just made Betty Crocker white cake from the box.

Split and colored, ready for the next step. I was a bit off on the purple, but couldn't fix it. 

 Ready for Addie's birthday... she chose pink for the top.

Even though I just dropped each color in the center and didn't try to smooth it out, I found it neat that the bottom colors spread up the sides. I wish I had grabbed a photo of a horizontal cross-section, because it actually formed rings of color. 

And since I was feeling the rainbow fun, for our function two days later I decided to keep the theme with my favorite candied pretzels:

We tasted the rainbow and it was yummy!
