The girls making the rolls by taking a marshmallow and coating it in butter, sugar and cinnamon, then rolling it into crescent dough:
The boys made one roll each and then decided to just feast on marshmallows and enjoy the show:The marshmallow represents Jesus' body, wrapped in 'spices' and buried in the 'tomb' (the roll). After baking, the 'tomb' is empty! The kids weren't expecting that, and Addie was really surprised! It was great to see their reactions and to share the message of Christ's resurrection with the children in such a fun, easy, and delicious way.
Egg dyeing fun:
Bella's first egg message, "I love Mom."
Addie followed with, "I miss Daddy."
"I love Dad."
Jacob had Bella write "dad" and draw a couple hearts on his egg.
The children got to choose their favorite eggs to display. I would like to draw attention to the couple Gator eggs in there... we ended up with one from each of the three older children. We love our Gators, even during Easter. Smile.
Once the kids had their egg dyeing fun, I got to have mine! This is the second year I colored eggs with silk ties, and I was very happy with the results. This is after the first step of covering each egg with a piece of silk:
All finished! These are the 'front' sides where the silk was stretched smooth across the eggs:
The 'back' sides end up looking a bit swirly because the material is bunched on that side, but I actually like those sides the best. They are so pretty to look at.
I have them on my counter in this lovely bowl Jake got me last year, and I randomly look at the eggs throughout the day.
And speaking of random... when I sat down at my computer after our egg dyeing fun, I found these stickers from the dye kit, all lined up by my Jacob. It made me smile, but he still got the "stickers-are-for-paper-only" lecture. He's lucky they came off so easily.
