Yesterday our friends invited us to go swimming at their neighborhood pool. Aside from one trip to a hotel pool in December, it has been nearly 10 months since we've been swimming regularly. After nearly 4 years in Hawaii, it seems so hard to believe. I left Will napping at home while Jake worked on schoolwork and took the older kids out for the afternoon. The pool was great. It had a large section that was only 2 1/2 feet deep, and the kids mostly stayed there. I was thankful, because it turns out that the pool will not allow any floats that are not "Coast Guard approved." I found this highly annoying, as it ruled out all our ring/tube floats as well as the arm waterwings. Since Addie and Jacob cannot swim yet, I thought we would have to leave... but was pleasantly surprised that Jacob was tall enough to keep his head above the water.
The kids had a blast jumping into the pool. Jacob kept yelling, "To infinity - and beyond!" before every jump. While I had the camera out, he wouldn't jump unless I was watching. He's a ham. The last jumping shot is of our friend, Luke.
Addie insisted that I took a picture of her "swimming" underwater, which actually consists of her holding her breath and dunking under.

Bella is truly a water girl at heart:

She even tried to help Addie learn to swim:
Jacob carried around these water toys the
whole time. He would throw them in and jump after them, or just carry them for fun.

The kids spent a long time playing Ring Around the Rosy:

One of my favorite shots... the kids waiting patiently for the lifeguard break to end:

I forgot how much our family enjoys going to the pool. I might just have to figure out ways to take the kids to some public pools this summer.
So glad that you guys could come over. We'll have to do it again!!!
