When we lived in Hawaii I found a wonderful shop where you could paint your own pottery. The first plate I made was a handprint plate for Mother's Day 2006. Bella and Addie were 3 and 1, and I love their little handprints! Ever since then, I've been hooked.
Next to follow was our special "birthday plate" - which is (pretty obviously) for the birthday person to use on their special day.
Then last month, I thought it was long overdue for another handprint plate, this time with all 4 children. I think it turned out perfect.
When we were in the store making the plate, the girls decided that they wanted to paint some pottery, too. So last week we invited some friends to come along and I took the girls back for some fun. The girls used their birthday money from Nana and Grandpa and Bella picked a
large piggy bank, Addie a small seal.

Here's how they turned out finished:
I made a Gator plate for Jake. I'm not sure he really appreciated receiving a plate, but I thought it was a cool idea. I added in some special UF experiences for us... our favorite restaurant, our first apartment, our church... I had many more ideas but ran out of space.
Now the trick is to keep myself from going back and just collecting more pottery that I don't need. But it really is so much fun!
