Candied pretzels:
Last Christmas season my good friend, Kassandra, had shared some photos of her girls making some candied pretzels. Once I found out how easy it was to make them, I started making them for everything! They are so versatile; you can make them with white or regular chocolate, and if you cover them with sprinkles you can change the colors for the event/holiday. We made green and red ones for Christmas, pink ones for Valentine's, green for St. Patrick's, pastels for Easter, blue and orange for our Gator friends, and the ones above were red and blue for the Awana Club colors. I made some "fancy" ones with chocolate drizzle for each Awana leader/teacher (24 bags in all!).
I had also signed up to bring the snacks for each of the girls' last soccer games. Addie's team got individual baggies of chocolate chip cookies, and then Bella's team got these cupcakes:
Originally, Bella's last game was scheduled for Memorial Day weekend, which is also Bella's birthday weekend, so I told her I would bring cupcakes. Then the game got pushed up a week but it was too late to back out on the cupcakes... she was SO excited about them and had been telling her teammates all about the expected treat. They seemed to thoroughly enjoy them.
Another treat that is a favorite in our family are the Chex Muddy Buddies (the recipe is on the box of Chex Rice Cereal). Jake absolutely loves it when I have this treat on hand, and last week I made a batch for our trip to the movies to watch How to Train Your Dragon. While they were drying on the wax paper, I heard this crunch, crunch, crunch sound... I turned around and found that Will had gotten the stool from the bathroom, carried it into the kitchen, and helped himself to a free sample. We'll pretend he's quality control.

I made Muddie Buddies to for a movie outing a few months ago. Mixed with the popcorn, they were quite a hit! I've thought about making them with Kix cereal, and wondered if they'd be similar to the Reese's cereal? I haven't done it yet, mostly because I don't need to eat it right now :)
ReplyDeleteApril, I know! That's where I got the idea from! I had never even heard of them until your blog post about the movie trip, and since them I have made SEVERAL batches. We all love it. I bet they would be good with the Kix, too... yum... I can try it for you this weekend if you want! ;)
