Tooth Fairy Fun

Bella lost her 7th tooth yesterday. She had been working on the tooth for a few days, and finally got a little help from Addie (who also helped with Bella's very first loose tooth) - and pop! Out it came! This led to much excitement and many theories on the Tooth Fairy. I love how the minds of children work. The girls have come to the conclusion that even though Tinkerbell and other fairies are not real, the Tooth Fairy is definitely real. After all, she has delivered a $1 coin for each of Bella's past six lost teeth. It's only logical.

So yesterday, Bella says to me, "Mom, I figured it out. The Tooth Fairy has so many people to visit in one night, that she can't let us see her because she is worried that we will ask her too many questions and take too long. She can't waste time because she has to get to all the other kids." This might have to do with the fact that on a previous lost tooth, the Tooth Fairy didn't show up. Oops. Thankfully, she did show up during that afternoon when Jacob was taking a nap. This thoroughly impressed the girls, especially Bella. And she still reminisces about the time the Tooth Fairy came during nap time.

Last night, as the girls were getting ready for bed, I found them searching through their collection of "jewels" - those glass vase fillers and random colored stones. I asked what they were doing, and Bella said, "Maybe if we leave one for the Tooth Fairy with my tooth she will let us meet her." Ha! I love her thinking. To which I replied, "You can't bribe the Tooth Fairy! It just won't work." And after some discussion, I was lucky enough to convince her of this.

The girls went to sleep last night with the hope of staying up for the Tooth Fairy, but of course, did not make it. Right before I went to sleep, Bella had gotten up to use the bathroom (near midnight) and she saw my light on under the door. "I just wanted to let you know that the Tooth Fairy came. I got my coin," she said very groggily. I love her. So excited.

This morning, after getting her piggy bank down to deposit her new dollar, she decided to count out her entire stash of money. All thirty-six dollars and ninety-seven cents. She then stated, "What a good day! I got my coin and I got to count out my piggy. I love counting money!" I love her outlook.
