Soccer Recap

The spring soccer season ended in June. For Jacob, he finished up his time in the U6 division and will be moving up in the fall. He had a strong season and was often the top scorer on the field, so it will be interesting to see how he plays in an older division. It was neat to see Jacob develop as a player and learn the rules of the game, and to start seeing the game as a whole more.

In these next photos, Jacob is in the lime color. Since we live in a small county, every player gets the same two jersey colors and they alternate for games. They do this so that the players can use the uniforms for multiple years - so we will still have at least one more year of blue and lime. In this shot, Jacob is taking the ball down field:

When I look at this photo, I see a glimpse of Jacob as a teenager. He just looks so much older as he walks down the field exhausted from playing hard. He always played whole heartedly. I loved that about watching him play.

Bella also played soccer, but in the U10 division. She loves to play soccer and really enjoys herself. Towards the end of the season she was growing in confidence and started to assert herself more on the field. Next season, she will be moving up to U12 and that seems to be the age when soccer really gets competitive. We are looking forward to it!

Although we are very much looking forward to soccer season starting up again, I will admit I'm apprehensive on how this season will logistically work for our family. Will can finally start playing, which he is thrilled about, and Addie is going to give soccer a try for one season as well (she played once when she was 5 and was uninterested). So we will have 4 players in 4 different age groups... that will be a LOT of practices and a LOT of games! Let's hope for a great season ahead!
