June Road Trip - Part 2

After our short stay in South Carolina, we headed down to my parents' house in Florida. We only had six days to visit so we tried to pack as much fun into those days as possible.

My parents have a community pool in their neighborhood, and the children LOVED it. I guess there are advantages to living in a subdivision... we sure do miss the pool we had at our condo in Hawaii.
One day my dad and I took the kids to Turkey Creek Sanctuary. Although it was as hot as a Florida summer day, it wasn't too bad when we were able to stay in the shade.
To me, Florida has a quiet beauty that can be found away from the beaches, believe it or not. I enjoy remote places much more than the crowded beaches.
My dad also gifted a Red Ryder BB Gun to the kids. I'm not sure who was more excited about this - the kids or me - but we had a blast shooting one afternoon. The gun was a bit too big for the little ones to handle, but Addie was the perfect height to use the trashcan as a prop.
Pretty good for her first try!
Bella was big enough to handle the gun by herself, but that made it a bit harder for her to aim.
Three on the target, two above. Not bad!
Jacob, however, had a hard time handling the gun. He didn't want to use a prop, so that was tricky.
He only got three on the cardboard. The two others were misses.
Will went last, and had a lot of help from Grandpa. Unfortunately, he didn't hit the board at all. Maybe in a couple years we can work on it some more.
We also spent a lot of time playing games with Grandpa.... Uno, Racko, Blockus, and Rummy (with Bella and me only). We introduced him to Pass the Pigs and he was not impressed. Those darn piggies wouldn't cooperate for him!
Nana was there, too... but usually behind the scenes (she's a bit camera shy). However, the kids sure did enjoy down her delicious food!
I wish that we lived closer to my parents, but I know that is highly unlikely to happen while we remain in the Navy. For now, we'll have to cherish our visits.
