Before Jake deployed we set up the camcorder and video taped him reading books with the children. He then formatted them onto a DVD with chapters and book titles, and we can now have story time with Daddy whenever we want. So tonight, that is just what we did:
Will kept bringing out more and more books... I think he wanted Jake to read all his new books. Too bad it doesn't work that way!
See the stack of books on the desk? There were even more than those! He's such a cutie.
We can't wait until we have real story time with Daddy again, but until August, this video is the next best thing!
FUN! I'm not sure how things are where Jake is, but the USO where Wes was last had a very cool set up! They had tons of books and they could go in once/day and record themselves reading a book. The recording area was a little room set up with kids decorations, etc. Then, the USO (FREE of charge) would mail the book and the DVD of Daddy reading, home to the child. My kids loved getting them in the mail! Maybe he could see if they have anything like that.
