Happy Birthday, Jake!

Last week we celebrated Jake's 32nd birthday; lucky for him, he was actually home to celebrate with us instead of being deployed across the ocean. Every other member of the family had birthday celebrations during his deployment, so it was extra special to have a 'Skype-free' party. 

Jake and the children with his presents: Starbucks espresso grinds, a new coffee mug, and coffee canister. (Jake has an aversion to smiling for the camera, so this is the closest I could get that wasn't a complete smirk.)

After an easy dinner of pizza (over the prior weekend I had made Jake a huge birthday dinner and rum cake since his birthday fell during the week) we settled in for a movie night:

We watched Gnomeo and Juliet. Cute movie. 

We took a break in the middle for some cake and ice cream... Jake kept blowing out the candles before we could sing to him. Bella thought it was a fun challenge but Addie started pouting. Very standard behavior.

Success at last! 

When we went back to the movie, Jake decided that he would rather read his book instead. He's currently reading his first Kindle book (on the iPad) - The Hunger Games.
