Blueberry Picking

When we spent our year in Virginia our family went fruit picking all season long. If it was available for picking nearby, we were there! Since we moved down here to Mississippi, however, we haven't had any opportunities to pick fresh fruit... until this past week when our friends invited us to go blueberry picking. And let me tell you, I didn't realize how much I missed it! The blueberries were simply delicious and very affordable. We ended up picking two buckets full. The funny thing is, I didn't realize just how many blueberries that actually equaled until we got home and I started to lay them out for freezing. I can assure you... two gallons of blueberries is a LOT of blueberries! I can't wait to make Jake a welcome home blueberry pie (one of his favorite desserts) in less than two months. I am trying to be anxiously patient. Smile.

Just look at these delicious berries... I love God's creations, especially the edible ones!
Bella was my biggest helper - she picked berries with me until we were completely done.
I asked Will for a photo, and this is what he did: he shoved his head into the bucket and wouldn't smile. The booger. He even rotated around the table and still managed to keep his face hidden. At least he is determined.
My sweet Adeline, however, was all smiles.
Jacob was playing shy, too... and I had a hard time even getting him to stay still long enough for a photo.
I finally convinced him to hold the bucket of blueberries, but still couldn't get him to make eye contact.
 My silly shy boys!
