Since Jake is the officer in charge of Air Det, he starts the beginning of PT at the front of the formation and then marches out to his guys. The kids got to join him and it was amusing to watch the kids following like a row of little ducklings.
After a bunch of exercises they ended the morning with a two-lap run around the grinder. We got to lead the Air Det section and the kids did pretty well keeping up for the first lap... well, at least the three older children. Will started the run in Jake's arms but ended up on his daddy's shoulders. I suppose he weighs a lot less than a military bag full of gear, but I sure wouldn't want to run with the extra weight! After the first lap, Bella dropped out and Jacob had run ahead somewhere. By the middle of the second lap, Addie came up begging to stop, so I dropped out and walked her back across the grinder. I think their poor little legs just couldn't keep up.
It was a fun morning and I'm glad we got a chance to see what some of Jake's daily work schedule is like. I enjoyed the workout, but I was assured that they took the PT pretty easy for us family members. That's fine with me, though.
Hoorah, Seabees!
