Road Trip (#2) Part 2 - DC

After spending a few days at the Great Wolf Lodge, we headed north to spend some time with our friends, the Hunts, in DC. The big event of our stay with them was a trip to Kings Dominion with four adults and nine children (aged 9 and under). It sounds crazy but we had a good trip!

Our attempt at a group shot. They're all there, just not all facing the camera. Addie, Mason, Will, Ashton, Bella, Lillian, Jacob, Cayden and Colten:
Who knew Charlie Brown was so big?
Right as we were getting ready to leave the water park area to attempt to get some good roller coaster rides in, it started to storm. Lightning + downpour = closed rides. During one of the lulls, we managed to make it to the carousel, which was the only ride still open. The result? Endless carousel rides. Over and over and over. I think we reached 8 rounds before it let up enough for us to make a run for the exits. At least the children didn't seem to mind!
Will quit after round 6, I believe. We got to watch from the sidelines once he was off:
My biggest disappointment was not getting to go on a single roller coaster ride! Such a bummer. I seriously want to hit a theme park one of these days with just Jake and no kids... we would have such a blast on the rides! Hmmm... maybe next time we visit Florida.

With only one more day left with our friends, April and I packed the following day with a party at Chuck E. Cheese and a trip to the bookstore. The guys were busy with work that day - Andy at his office and Jake on the laptop at the house. By the time April and I made it back, Will went straight to Jake for some cuddles. I absolutely love this photo:

We tried to wear the children out because we left them home that night with two sitters and went on a double date out for dinner and a movie. Such a nice treat! It was a great visit with our friends, but way too short. Hopefully our next visit will be a little longer!
