Saying Goodbyes...

A couple weeks ago we met our friends, the Lyles, for a picnic lunch at a nearby park. We first met when Bella started her soccer journey this Spring and met her teammate, Ella. We then found out that Ella's younger brother, Luke, is the same age as Addie. Better yet, the family is a Christian family, a homeschooling family, and the father is an engineer who works (as a civilian) for the Army. He, too, was at Virginia Tech for only one year of grad school. I had high hopes that our families would hit it off, but Ella suffered an injury that took her out of the soccer season, and her recovery process took a couple months. By the time we were able to get together, we were on limited time before they would be returning home and we would be on our way to Mississippi. But I was right, we did hit it off! So at the end of July we met for one last time, had some fun, and said our goodbyes. Sometimes the Navy lifestyle has it's downsides... but then again, if it weren't for the Navy we would never have met in the first place!

Here are a few photos that the children took... Jacob isn't in any, but he did take the last two photos. ;)
Cari and me:

We will miss their family, but I am thankful that technology makes it so easy to keep in touch across the miles!
