Last month for Valentine's Day we got together with two other homeschooling families for a little 'school' party. We had lunch, played games, decorated cookies, exchanged valentines, and wore the children out. It was perfect.
I let the children pick out what kind of candy they wanted to exchange, and then I went about designing some treat holders to transport the goods. It took some research to find some cute 'boyish' sayings, but ended up with: "I wheelie like you!" "We have wheel fun together!" and "I never tire of our friendship!"
The girls' valentines ended up being holders for Ring Pops, which didn't leave much room for cute sayings. Bella and Addie picked out stamps that either said "God is Love" or "So glad we're friends."
One little activity at the party was making foam lips and mustaches to go on the end of lollipops. This was such an easy craft and the kids looked so cute sucking on their lollipops!
We decorated cookies and the kids made this one for Jake. We always have to represent the Gator Nation around here... even on valentine cookies!
We had a stacking game with large conversation hearts. Bella came away the first place winner, but I didn't manage to get a photo of her tallest tower. This kept the older ones busy for a good while, though! Will and his buddy, Christopher, were too busy enjoying their Fun Dips to bother stacking the candy:
And Jacob was just too busy playing with all the cool toys to stop for anything else. Even candy.
It was a wonderful time to take a break from our regular schooling and to enjoy a special day with our friends!
